Bob Baldwin’s 34th studio offering is a continual stay-at-home event. The 33rd offering was a live record recorded in Elmsford, NY (The live ‘Stay-at-Home Series’). The latest offering, “B Positive” is a musical road map on how to keep your chin up high.

“Having faced near-death family illness, I’m glad I can take away some things that I can share with my listener,” says the native New Yorker Pianist. “Chances are, if I’ve gone through it, so has a lot more people”, says Baldwin. “If you just look at the titles, you’ll clearly see what my intent is…simply don’t lose control of the ship, no matter what goes down”.

This record feels more like a rejuvenation of his old projects like “Cool Breeze”, hearkening back to fun and bouncy melodies, with just enough harmonic tension to make the hair on the back of your neck tingle and tickle.

In both regions; however, was one of the power radio stations of the universe. WABC Radio (New York City), with golden voices like Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrison and Dan Ingram, were playing the pop hits of their time in the 60’s and 70’s. It was there where the New York Pianist/Arranger caught that infamous ‘Beatles Bug’ that had obviously swept the United States...truly a British Invasion. That bug is in full-effect with 10 catchy Beatles tracks suitable for jazz piano, with some stellar vocals from CeCe Peniston (“The Fool on the Hill”), and DC legend Lori Williams on the original piece “Abbey Road” and the sultry grooved- out “My Love”. Ragan Whiteside shines brightly on “Michelle (My Girl)” on flute, and the first scheduled single of “Imagine (Living As One)’ features a smooth west- coast sax offering by Euge Groove. “Abbey Road” is a must-have for all Beatles and Baldwin fans alike.

When I embarked on the original disc, “Never Out of Season”, it turned into a lifelong musical journey into and through my faith, using the source of my faith and strength. It’s the strength from which I drew from, that invisible, yet tangible source.

When I embarked on the original disc, “Never Out of Season”, it turned into a lifelong musical journey into and through my faith, using the source of my faith and strength. It’s the strength from which I drew from, that invisible, yet tangible source.

I grew up in the Christian faith and believe in the resurrection of Christ. I have experienced the Baptist faith, have witnessed the Pentacostal fire, have experienced a personal miracle, and have happily doled out a couple of small miracles myself thanks be to God. I understand the movement and the belief system.

I’m all in. My music is a ministry to heal hearts and inspire. There are several experiences in my life, which drove me to create this project.

One in particular, in terms of history, the very first Gospel-Jazz project credit belongs to a group called Koinonia. In 1986, I performed on the second-ever project history with Tom Browne, and it was very foreign to the ears of the Gospel community. It was released in 1987. Before Kirk Whalum, Yolanda Adams and Ben Tankard, there was Tom. He was ahead of schedule, however, Malaco Records wasn’t up to task and the record was poorly distributed before crashing and burning into oblivion.

I’m very familiar with Gospel and Jazz experience, so I’m comfortable with making this kind of record. At the end of the day, there’s on 12 notes in the universe and you still have to make music of those notes. I hope you enjoy this project and more importantly, that you receive a healing from this project. Enjoy, and take it all in.

June 25th, 2009 - the day that rocked the music world with the tragic death of the King Of Pop, will mark a day of celebration of the life of Michael Jackson with the release of Bob Baldwin's 'Never Can Say Goodbye', a fitting title to this thoughtful collection of past to present Jackson hits from contemporary jazz pioneer, Pianist/Arranger Bob Baldwin and speaks of the sentiment felt by millions of fans worldwide. Radio promotions as well as a pre-produced radio special, will be made available for broadcast on June 25th across the terrestrial, satellite, internet jazz radio spectrum, including Baldwin s own 'NewUrbanJazz Lounge' radio program.

Having received the blessing of the Jackson estate, and as a follow up to previous Jackson hits on previous discs, 'Goodbye' is the first jazz record to pay homage to MJ and boasts a sterling handpicked collection of Jackson classics served up Baldwin style. This stirring and feel good tribute to all the man was and the influence he had across the musical spectrum, features original Baldwin reads on the early Jackson 5 hit, 'I ll Be There', Jackson and McCartney s 'The Girl Is Mine', the laid back and soul drenched 'Lady In My Life' (from the 'Thriller' vaults) to the funky side with unique touches on 'Bad' and the Gamble and Huff classic 'Let Me Show You The Way Go', and the highly infectious title track, featuring a cameo appearance from the late guitarist Chuck Loeb.
